This ship holds a special place in my heart because it's where my parents met. My father was the chief officer, and the captain was Carlo Fanchiotti. During a voyage to Savona, my mother's hometown, some of Captain Fanchiotti's family came aboard to visit. He was my mother's uncle by marriage, and she came along with them, which is how she and my father met.
